Description:

The five-story South Building houses ancillary services for The Getty Center. Physical constraints and over 100 conditions of City specified development determined its site placement. To lessen the project’s impact within its largely residential context, the building was separated into halves to reduce its apparent mass and stepped into the sloped site. The building binds to the earth by pulling the hillside into its composition and using similar hillside planting materials for the plaza deck.
